Using multiple email addresses with Turbine
What can go wrong
Turbine uses your email address to work out which company account to use when you log in. It also uses cookies to recognise you after you have logged in.
If you try to log into Turbine with multiple email addresses accounts, it’s easy to confuse the system.
This can create problems when:
- Activating a new account
- Switching from one account to another
- Reusing an old email address, e.g. when someone leaves a company and later rejoins it
- Someone creates a new Turbine company account instead of a user account inside an existing company account
You are likely to see error messages or ‘page not found’ errors.
How to activate multiple accounts
- Each user account requires a different email address - you cannot reuse the same email address in two or more different Turbine company accounts.
- An admin adds your new user account (See this FAQ for instructions)
- Turbine will send you an email to activate the account. (Please note that this is the only way to activate the account - Turbine support cannot do this for you.)
- The activation link in the email can only be used once. If the activation fails, you will need to send another activation link. (See this FAQ.)
- Don’t click on the link yet!
- Assuming you already have another Turbine user account, you need to avoid the situation where you click on the link while already logged into another account. There are a number of different strategies for doing this:
- Recommended: Copy the hyperlink for the activation link in the email. Usually, this is done by right-clicking on the activation link in your email client and selecting ‘Copy link’. Then open an anonymous, incognito or private browser window so that your computer ignores any previous cookies, and paste the link into that window. This should let you activate your account in the usual way.
- Alternatively, try using a completely different browser that you have never used before for Turbine and paste the link into that. Alternatively, try using a computer that you have never used before for Turbine and just click on the link.
- Once you have activated the account and set your password, move on to ‘Switching from one account to another’ below.
Switching from one account to another
- Open your main, most-used Turbine account in the usual way
- Follow the instructions in this FAQ to add your new account.
- Once this is set up, you’ll be able to switch between accounts within Turbine

Contact Turbine support so we can delete the user’s new account, and you can try inviting them again.
